PITTSBURGH – Davis & Elkins shot 52 percent from the floor and outscored Point Park 40-30 in the second half as the Senators narrowly defeated the Pioneers, 64-63, on Wednesday evening at CCAC.
Point Park held the lead for 36 minutes in the contest, leading by as many as 13 early in the second half. The Pioneers also held an 8-2 advantage in 3-point field goals and outrebounded the Senators 45-36. Point Park had 15 offensive rebounds.
Kaden Warner led Point Park with 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in the game.
Nathanial Van chipped in 14 points and six rebounds. In the post,
Aiden Miller scored nine points to go with six rebounds, and
Jags Jhawar came off the bench to record seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Point Park shot 36.1 percent (22-of-61) from the floor in the game.
Charleston Ponds and Nicolas Silva finished the game with 14 points apiece to lead Davis & Elkins. Ponds also pulled down eight rebounds and had four steals.
Davis & Elkins scored 34 points in the paint and had 18 points off turnovers in the come-from-behind win.
The Pioneers will return to MEC play on Saturday at West Virginia Wesleyan. Tip is set for 4 p.m. in Buckhannon.
