SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Point Park held Shippensburg to just 10 fourth-quarter points and went on to pick up a 56-50 road victory on Wednesday evening to open the 2025-26 season.
Point Park grabbed the victory despite shooting just 29 percent from the floor (18-62) and 29.4 percent from behind the arc (5-of-17). The Pioneers held a 49-37 rebounding edge in the win, including 17 on the offensive glass.
The Pioneers used stifling defense on Wednesday evening, limiting Shippensburg to just seven points in the second quarter and 10 in the fourth quarter.
Point Park's balanced offensive attack was led by
Alexis Giles with 14 points.
Lexi Adams also recorded double figures with 13 points to go with 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Elizabeth Boyd finished the evening with eight points and 10 rebounds, while
Kamryn Pieper wrapped up the evening with eight points, four rebounds and three blocks.
Camille Fultz and
Fatim Sarr Ndow rounded out Point Park's scoring with seven and six points, respectively.
Abbie Johns scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead Shippensburg on the evening. McKenzie Thomas chipped in 10 points.
Point Park scored 19 points-off turnovers and 12 second-chance points in the season-opening win.
Point Park will return home to face Pitt-Johnstown on Sunday, Nov. 23 at CCAC. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
