PITTSBURGH – Point Park will be looking for its first win of the season on Wednesday evening, traveling to Wheeling University for its Mountain East Conference opener at the Alma Grace McDonough Center. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Point Park will take the floor for the fourth time on Wednesday, after dropping non-conference games against Edinboro (86-74), Pitt-Johnstown (92-75) and Tiffin (84-77). Wheeling comes into the game with a record of 2-2, including wins over Cal PA (85-82) and Winston-Salem State (86-66).
Storylines
- Aidan Anderson is leading Point Park in scoring this season at 20.3 points per game. Anderson is shooting 51 percent from the floor (22-43) and 50 percent from three (8-16) this season.
- Anderson has recorded back-to-back 20-point scoring performances, including a season-high 28 points against Tiffin on Sunday afternoon. In Sunday's performance against Tiffin, Anderson shot 10-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-5 from three.
- Sophomore Grant Welch is second on the team in scoring at 14.0 points per game. Welch scored a season-high 20 points against UPJ last Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving.
- Redshirt junior Kaden Warner is third on the team in scoring this season, averaging 11.0 points and a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game.
- Jayden Davis and Jaylen Stewart are leading the Pioneers in assists this season with 10 each.
- Point Park is being outrebounded 129-74 in its first three games of the season. The Pioneers have also given up 80+ points in each of its three games this season.
- During the 2024-25 season, Point Park and Wheeling split their home-and-home matchups. The Pioneers won the first matchup in Pittsburgh by a 75-71 margin, while Wheeling won at the McDonough Center later in the season (82-62).
