WHEELING, W.Va. – Senior
Ari Bleda scored her 1,000th point in a Point Park uniform in the Pioneers 64-43 loss to MEC opponent Wheeling in the final regular season conference game of the season.
Bleda, a 5-11 guard from Barcelona, Spain, had nine points on the night to eclipse the milestone. Bleda went 3-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe while pulling down six rebounds and dishing out three assists.
The Point Park offense was held to 30.9% shooting from the floor as the Pioneers went 17-for-55 and a mere 12.5% from deep with
Alexis Giles knocking down both of Point Park's three-point shots on the night. Giles had eight points on the night as well as four rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal.
Camille Fultz led the Pioneer's putting up 13 points while pulling down seven rebounds.
Wheeling narrowly beat the Pioneers on the glass as the Cardinals had a 37-36 advantage on the boards.
Aichata Ballo and
Chloe Williams each pulled down seven rebounds for the Pioneers while Wheeling's Rachel Wilson pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Cardinals shot 42.4% on the night with Emilia Sierra Lacosta leading all scorers with 19 points on the night. Bryana Henderson was the next highest scorer for Wheeling with 17 points in the contest. Wheeling forced 17 turnovers on the night picking up 13 points from Point Park turnovers.
The Pioneers close out Mountain East Conference play at 6-14 on the year. Point Park will enter their last matchup of the regular season with an 8-18 overall record as the Pioneers host Salem for a non-conference matchup. Before the game, Point Park's five Seniors will be honored. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at CCAC-Allegheny.
