Point Park Picks Up Comeback Win over Glenville State

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Point Park women's basketball team picked up the comeback win over MEC opponent Glenville State defeating the Pioneers 71-65 at the Waco Center on Wednesday night.

In a matchup that saw Glenville State have the lead for 36:24 and have a largest lead of 19, the Point Park offense ignited in the third and fourth quarters to quickly close the gap on Glenville as Point Park dropped 29 points in the third and 17 in the fourth to complete the big comeback.

The fourth quarter was all Point Park as the Pioneer defense held Glenville State to only six points in the fourth quarter on a mere 14.3 percent shooting as Glenville State went 3-for-21 from the floor and 0-for-9 from behind the three.

Point Park went 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach and run out the clock on Glenville State.

Camille Fultz picked up yet another double-double dropping a team leading 18 points while picking up 10 rebounds to lead Point Park. Fultz also was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Three other Pioneers reached double-digits with Alexis Giles and Ari Bleda each picking up 14 and Emma Pavelek chipping in with 13.

As a team Point Park shot 32.4 percent from the floor and went 18-for-24 from the free throw line. Point Park also dominated the boards picking up nearly 60 rebounds as Point Park led Glenville state 59-48 on the glass. Point Park picked up 21 offensive rebounds and 38 defensive rebounds.

For Glenville State, Tynasia Bunting led all scorers with a double-double dropping 21 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor in 27 minutes played. Bunting also pulled down 12 rebounds in the effort. Nwando Okigbo (15) and Jamesha Samuel (11) were the other Pioneers to score in double-digits. As a team Glenville shot 32.5 percent from the floor and and 17.1 percent from behind the arc going 6-for-35.

With the win Point Park moves to 7-13 overall and 5-9 in Mountain East Conference play while Glenville State falls to 13-8 overall and 8-6 in conference play. Point Park will return to Pittsburgh where they will face off against Concord University at CCAC-Allegheny. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
