PITTSBURGH – Despite 35 points and 18 rebounds from
Nazareth Fisher on senior day, Point Park dropped its 10
th loss in a row with a 77-68 defeat against Salem University on Saturday afternoon at CCAC-Allegheny.
Salem erased a five-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Pioneers 42-28 in the second half of Saturday's game against Point Park. In the loss, Point Park was plagued by 16 turnovers and shot just 42 percent from the floor (13-31) in the second half, including 0-6 from behind the arc in the final 20 minutes.
Fisher shot 16-of-26 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe to tally his 35 points. Additionally, eight of his 18 rebounds were on the offensive end.
Point Park also got 15 points and five rebounds from
Aidan Anderson.
Aiden Miller added a second double-double for Point Park with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Nathaniel Van was the only other Pioneer to score with seven points.
Salem had five double-figure scorers in the win, led by Jalen Barnes with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. Daquan Coleman added 18 points, while Jack Garrison IV had 15 points and seven rebounds.
Salem shot 50 percent from the floor on Saturday afternoon, including 8-of-18 from three (44.4%). The Tigers also went 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.
With the loss, Point Park finished the regular season with a record of 10-18, including 4-16 in MEC play. Point Park is the No. 10 seed in next week's MEC Men's Basketball Tournament and will open the postseason against seventh-seeded Frostburg State at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening from WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.
