WHEELING, W.Va. – Second-seeded and No. 11-ranked Fairmont State shot 62 percent from the floor in the second half and broke open Friday's quarterfinal game against Point Park, advancing to the semifinals with a 68-55 victory at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.
Despite the setback, Point Park held a 31-22 rebounding advantage and made nine 3-pointers on the afternoon. The Pioneers shot 46 percent from the floor (19-of-41).
Aidan Anderson led Point Park with 13 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the floor.
Nazareth Fisher had a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Nick Marshall and
Kaden Warner also scored nine points apiece.
Point Park recorded 12 assists on 19 made baskets, with a team-high four coming from
Brenden Williams. Anderson and Warner also passed out three assists.
David Jolinder and Andre Harris scored 12 points apiece to lead Fairmont State. Rudy Fitzgibbons added 10 for the Falcons.
With the win, Fairmont State (25-4) moves on to Saturday's semifinal round against sixth-seeded Glenville State. Point Park finishes the season at 11-19.
