JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Aiden Burford led the Point Park men's wrestling team with a fourth-place finish at the Jamestown Jayhawk Open on Saturday.
After dropping his first-round bout by a 9-7 decision, Burford won his next four matches to advance to the third-place match in the 141 bracket. Burford's four-consecutive wins featured three extra-point victories – one by fall and two by major decision.
Liam Hein also went 2-2 on the day, winning by forfeit in the second round and by a 14-7 decision in the third round over Gannon's Connor DeSautels.
The Pioneers wrestling team will now prepare for its first-ever Mountain East Conference Wrestling Championships, set for next Saturday (Jan.31) at Glenville State's Waco Center. Start time is slated for 10 a.m.
