GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State used a big second quarter and held off Point Park's second half rally to earn a 110-98 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Waco Center.
Glenville State outscored Point Park 46-17 in the second frame and took a commanding 70-36 lead into the break. The visiting Pioneers outscored Glenville 62-40 in the second half to cut the final margin in the game to just 12.
Camille Fultz finished just one point shy of a career-high with 25 points and eight rebounds in the setback.
Sophia Moore went 7-of-11 from three to finish with 21 points in the game. The Pioneers also got 15 points, five rebounds and four assists from
Alexis Giles, and 10 points, nine rebounds and nine assists from
Elizabeth Boyd.
The Pioneers assisted on 26 of 39 baskets in the game.
Point Park shot 51.3 percent from the floor in the game (39-76), including a 10-of-27 performance from three. However, Glenville forced Point Park into 27 turnovers on the afternoon.
Glenville State shot 46.9 percent from the floor (46-98) with seven double-figure scorers in the win.
Nwando Okigbo scored a team-high 16 points to lead GSU. Ashlyn Riley chipped in 15 points and nine rebounds.
With the win, Glenville State improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the MEC.
Point Park (3-7, 1-5 MEC) will return to action on Thursday afternoon when Charleston visits CCAC for a 4 p.m. tip in Pittsburgh.
