PITTSBURGH – Point Park led wire-to-wire in an 83-67 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday evening at CCAC. With the win, Point Park earned the season sweep over Wesleyan and improved to 5-12 (3-9 MEC) on the season.
Aidan Anderson led the Pioneers with 33 points, 10 rebounds and three assists – his second-consecutive 30-point scoring performance and third of the season. He finished with 30 points last Saturday against Salem.
The Pioneers also got 15 points and five rebounds from
Kaden Warner, and 14 points, four rebounds and two assists from
Grant Welch. Warner dropped five 3-pointers in the game, while Welch added four.
Greg Williams just missed double-figures with eight points, while
Jaylen Stewart filled the box score with seven points, six rebounds and nine assists.
Point Park shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half and 42 percent for the game (29-69). The Pioneers also went 12-of-30 from three and knocked down 13-of-15 free throw attempts on the evening.
Wesleyan shot 43.5 percent from the floor on Friday, including a 9-of-29 mark from three-point range. Jaden Westfall had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bobcats. Isaiah Baker and Curtis Litton added 14 points apiece.
Point Park will now travel to Davis & Elkins for an MEC matchup on Monday evening at 6 p.m. against the Senators, before return home to host Glenville State on Wednesday evening at CCAC.
