PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Point Park women's soccer earned its third-straight win with a 2-0 victory over Shawnee State on Sunday afternoon in MEC play.
The win marks Point Park's seventh shutout of the season, including four of the last five games. The Pioneers are 7-3-1 overall and 7-1-1 in league play.
Point Park broke the scoreless tie in the 32
nd minute on an unassisted goal by
Meea Irwin, the first of her PPU career. Late in the second half,
Maria Gomez used an assist from
Rebecca Pihlgren to make it 2-0 late (80
th minute). It was Gomez's first goal of the 2026 season, while Pihlgren added to her team-high of eight points this season (three goals, two assists). Pihlgren has now had an assist in back-to-back matches.
Nicole Kuchinski continued her strong play in the PPU net, preserving a clean sheet while recording three saves in the win.
Point Park held a 21-5 advantage in total shots, including an 11-3 edge in on-target shots. PPU also had six corner kick opportunities in the game.
Point Park returns to FNB Stadium for a conference matchup against West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday evening. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
