FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State outscored Point Park 18-6 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback and secure the season sweep over the Pioneers on Saturday afternoon inside Bobcat Arena.
The Pioneers (7-17, 4-15 MEC) placed three players in double figures but were limited to just 20 second-half points. Lucia Hervia led Point Park with a season-high 14 points, while Alexis Giles and Elizabeth Boyd each added 10.
Boyd also recorded three blocks and tied Camile Fultz for the team lead in rebounds with seven apiece.
Frostburg State trailed at halftime before erupting in the second half. Julie Spinelli continued her strong season, posting the game's only double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, along with three assists. Sophie Nichols was the only other Bobcat in double figures, finishing with 13 points.
Both teams knocked down seven three-pointers, but Frostburg held a slight edge in field-goal percentage, shooting 36.2% (21-of-58) compared to Point Park's 34.6% (18-of-52).
With the win, Frostburg improves to 13-13 overall and 8-10 in MEC play. If the playoffs began today, the Pioneers would be the No. 10 seed and the Bobcats the No. 7 seed in the MEC Tournament, setting up a matchup between the two teams in the postseason.
Point Park concludes its MEC schedule Wednesday when it hosts Wheeling at CCAC for Senior Day. Camile Fultz, Alexis Giles and Emma Pavelek will be honored prior to the 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
