PITTSBURGH – Despite
Aidan Anderson's 27-point scoring performance on senior day, Wheeling held off Point Park's late comeback to escape with a 93-83 victory on Wednesday night at CCAC.
Point Park pulled to within six points at the 2:40 mark and 0:49 second mark, but both times the Cardinals found points on the other end to maintain its advantage.
Wheeling finished the evening shooting 56.9 percent from the floor (33-58) with nine 3-pointers. The Cardinals were also 18-of-22 from the free throw line.
After shooting just 32 percent from the floor in the first half (11-34), the Pioneers connected on 61 percent of its shots in the second half (22-36). Eight of Point Park's nine 3-pointers came in the second half.
Anderson added eight rebounds and four steals to his 27 points.
Jayden Davis added 17 points, four rebounds and four assists, while
Greg Williams finished with 11 points.
Rob Keys had nine points.
Wheeling had four double figure scorers in the game, led by 26 points and 12 rebounds from Tee Harris. Caleb Murray added 18.
Point Park will cap the regular season on Saturday at Salem. Tip is slated for 4 p.m.
