Point Park Drops Opener at Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio – Two goals by Findlay's Raegan Smith lifted the home-standing Oilers to a 2-0 season-opening win over Point Park on Thursday afternoon at DeHaven Field.

Smith drew a PK opportunity in the 18th minute and capitalized on the shot to give Findlay an early 1-0 advantage that stood until halftime.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Smith used an assist from Avary Zeisloft to pull ahead by a 2-0 margin - a margin that would hold through 90 minutes of play.

Findlay had a 12-2 advantage in shots, including a 5-2 mark in shots on goal. Point Park finished the afternoon with two shots (both on goal). Findlay also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Point Park's first shot attempt came in the 80th minute off the foot off Rebecca Pihlgren. Point Park had a second scoring opportunity on Payton Gibney's shot in the 82nd minute, but both attempts were turned away by Findlay's Cat Graves in net.

Riley Jones made the start for Point Park in net, recording a game-high three saves.

Point Park will now take an off-day on Friday, before heading to Ashland for another non-conference challenge. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
