KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Point Park women's cross country team turned in a second-place finish at the Kutztown DII/DIII Challenge on Saturday morning at North Campus Farms Fields.
Cassondra O'Connor led the Pioneers with a third-place finish in the 6k race, turning in a time of 23:36.7.
Anna Babinyecz (23:54.5) and
Ruby Ostrander (24:36.0) finished sixth and 10
th, respectively for the Pioneers – giving PPU three runners finishing in the top 10.
Aubrey Smith finished 14
th with a time of 24:54.4 and
Paige McMahon took 16
th with a time of 25:02.3.
On the individual leaderboard, Kutztown's Maura Lenhart took first (22:23.8), followed by Scranton's Kyrianna Nemitz (22:50.7) in second, and O'Connor in third.
Kutztown placed five runners in the top 10 and took first place at the event with 26 points. Point Park finished in second with 49 points, ahead of Scranton (65) and Lock Haven (85).
Point Park returns to action on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Atlantic Region Preview Meet in Kernersville, North Carolina. The 6k race will be run at the Ivey Redmond Sports Complex.
