KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- Point Park women's cross country took second place on Friday at the Atlantic Region Preview meet. Anna Babinyecz and Cassondra O'Connor both recorded top-six finishes in the race.

Babinyecz finished in fifth place with a time of 23:04.3. She finished in sixth place in the Kutztown DII/DIII Challenge, and she improved on her time by 50 seconds in the 6K race.

O'Connor, the reigning MEC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year, posted a sixth-place finish in the race. O'Connor improved on her third-place time from Kutztown by 30 seconds on Friday.

The Pioneers finished with a team total of 55 points, second only to East Stroudsburg, the top team in the Atlantic Region and the No. 26 team in NCAA Division II athletics.

Zabine von Westernhagen finished in 13th place with her time of 23:44.8. She finished on spot better than teammate Aubrey Smith who turned in a time of 23:50.4. Paige McMahon recorded a time of 24:08.4, good for 17th place to round out the team's top five.

UP NEXT
Point Park will be back in action on Oct. 10 for the 25th Annual Carnegie Mellon Invitational. The meet will take place at 10:45 a.m. at Youthtowne Fields in Clinton, Pa.
