Point Park University head flag football coach Sharon Vasquez has announced the addition of Angela Baker as an assistant coach, bringing a wealth of high-level playing experience, coaching, and professional football experience to the Pioneers’ program.
"Baker brings a rare blend of elite international playing experience and hands-on NFL coaching exposure that will immediately impact Point Park’s program," said Vasquez. "We are looking forward to welcoming Baker to Pioneer Nation as we work to build something special in Pittsburgh."
Â
Baker joins the Point Park staff with a distinguished background as both an elite athlete and an NFL coach. A seven-time Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) All-American with the Pittsburgh Passion, she helped lead the organization to Independent Women’s Football League National Championships in 2014 and 2015. Internationally, Baker has represented the United States at the highest level, earning gold medals at the 2017 and 2022 IFAF World Championships.
Â
In the spring of 2020, Baker was selected to participate in the NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, spending three weeks with the Cleveland Browns coaching staff. One of only six fellows chosen and one of just two women—Baker gained invaluable NFL-level experience during the Browns’ offseason program. Baker played an active role within the offensive unit, specifically working with the team’s quarterback room.Â
Â
After Baker’s time with the Browns, she took her love for the game to the University of Redlands, where she was a Defensive Quality Control/Special Teams Assistant coach for the 2021 season. Her time with the Bulldogs was short-lived when she joined the New York Giants in 2022.Â
Â
In 2022, Baker was the Giants' inaugural recipient of the Rosie Brown Minority Coaching Fellowship and joined Laura Young as the first women to hold coaching positions in franchise history.
Â
Baker spent three seasons with the New York Giants as an Offensive Assistant, where she worked closely with the Giants' tight ends and their coach, Tim Kelly. She also had daily and direct contact with head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
