Laura Schaefer joined the athletics administration at Point Park University in September 2024 as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations. She added the role of Senior Woman’s Administrator in December 2024.
In her role at Point Park, Schaefer manages all facilities and game day operations for the department, including practice and competition schedules, game day event staffing, ticketing, and special promotions. She will also take a lead role in Point Park’s transition to NCAA Division II with responsibility within the MEC and NCAA governance structures.
“Laura has been a tremendous asset to Pioneer Athletics since joining the department,” Vice President of Athletics Scott Swain commented. “She has brought professionalism and effective procedures to our operations along with being a great resource for coaches and staff. Laura works very well with student-athletes on a variety of issues as well. I know we appreciate her positive Pioneer spirit that she brings every day.”
Prior to arriving at Point Park, Schaefer spent four years working as a Permanency Specialist for The Bair Foundation in Erie, Pennsylvania.
While completing her coursework at Penn State Behrend, Schaefer served as an Athletic Operations Representative at her alma mater from 2017 through 2019. In her role, she served as game day administrator, monitored the facilities schedule, maintained facilities, and coordinated locker room assignments for events.
She was four-year member of the Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team from 2015-18 and was voted team captain as a senior. Schaefer helped Penn State Behrend to four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances during her career, earning third team all-conference honors in 2017 and first-team accolades in 2018.
Her past athletics experiences also include coaching soccer at Fairview High School as well as camps and clinics with Penn State Behrend soccer and the Erie United Soccer Club.
Schaefer graduated magna cum laude in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Penn State University-Behrend campus.
