Point Park University Vice President of Athletics Scott Swain has announced the addition of Tim Schachtner to the full-time athletics staff as the Head Coach for Strength & Conditioning. He began his new role in August 2025.
This newly added position within Pioneer athletics will be charged with developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for Points Park's 19 athletics teams and over 400 student-athletes.
"To give the resource off a full-time Strength & Conditioning Coach to our student-athletes is a game changer," said Swain. "Tim brings a wealth of experience to Point Park Athletics and he will help all of our Pioneers in so many ways."
Schachtner comes to Pittsburgh after serving on the strength and conditioning staff at NCAA Division II institution Limestone University in Gaffney, South Carolina from July 2023 to May 2025. At LU, Schachtner led the strength and conditioning programs for multiple teams, including baseball, men's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, wrestling, and others.
Additionally, he oversaw the strength and conditioning facility at Limestone, providing equipment maintenance, repair and cleaning when needed. He also developed and implemented a comprehensive strength and conditioning internship curriculum during his tenure in South Carolina.

Prior to his time at Limestone, Schachtner served as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Frostburg State University. Serving in his role at FSU from October 2019 to June 2023, Schachtner worked with the Bobcat acrobatics & tumbling, women's basketball, field hockey, men's soccer, tennis and track & field programs. He also assisted in the development and implementation of a football strength and conditioning program at FSU.
Prior to his full-time roles, he served as an intern at Division I Iowa State University (2019) and Division III Buena Vista University (2016).
Schachtner holds multiple certifications, including three with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and one with USA Weightlifting. His NSCA certifications include Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS), and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC). He also has a Level 1 certification with USA Weightlifting.
Originally from Iowa, Schachtner earned his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Buena Vista University in spring 2016. He also obtained a Master of Science in Kinesiology degree from the University of Central Missouri in May of 2019.
