CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- Point Park University men's soccer played to a 2-2 tie verus Lourdes (Ohio) University on Wednesday night at the AHN Montour Complex. The Pioneers (3-2-1) had their first tie of the year. 

Genildo Postimo scored both goals for Point Park in his first game of the season. He gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when he took a nice pass from Jaume Genovard and made the finish. 

But that lead did not stand up as Lourdes scored the next two goals. The first came five minutes before halftime with Frederico Reali taking advantage of the Point Park keeper being out to put in a goal from distance. The Gray Wolves (0-2-3) were the beneficiaries of an own goal early in the second half when a mixup led to a 2-1 deficit for the Pioneers with 38 minutes left.

Point Park was pushing for the tie and eventually got it in the 70th minute. It was Postimo again with Nils Benning providing the assist. 

The Pioneers had been knocking at the door several times for the tying goal and then later did the same in trying to get the winning goal. The second half saw the Pioneers get 10 of their 14 total shots on the night. Point Park led in shots 14-5 overall with Lourdes having just three shots on goal. 

Point Park was unfortunately whistled for a few offsides violations in the second half, which took a couple of goals off the board. The Pioneers also hit a post and had the Lourdes defenders make saves to help out their keeper on multiple occassions. 

The Pioneers will be back in action Sunday, Sept. 17 at Washington Adventist (Md.). It is the final non-conference game of the year with Point Park a chance to take a winning record from the pre-conference slate. The River States Conference openers are Sept. 21 and 23 at home back at Highmark Stadium versus Brescia (Ky.) and Oakland City (Ind.)
