Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. -- Point Park University mn's soccer is 3-0 in the River States Conference after Saturday's 1-0 victory at Indiana University East. The Pioneers (6-2-2, 3-0 RSC) got a penalty-kick goal from Philipp Harder in the 69th minute to stay unbeaten in the conference.
Point Park won for the third game in a row and extended its unbeaten streak to five games. The Pioneers finished out September at 3-0-2 in their last five matches of the month.
The Pioneers dominated the shots with a 20-4 advantage. That was 7-1 in the first half and 13-3 the second half.
Indiana East (3-8, 1-2 RSC) had five yellow cards -- all in the second half. The Red Wolves also took seven fouls the final 45 minutes of their nine on the day. All of that led to Point Park getting the penalty opportunity at 68:35. Harder converted for the only goal needed in the game.
IU East had all three of its shots on goal in the second half. Point Park goalkeeper Eduard Garcia made all three stops to perserve the shutout. The Point Park defenders also provided a difference breaking up passes and winning the battle in the air, an effort that was led by Alexis Lamontagne, among others.
IU East had 10 saves on the day to keep the score low. That was with Peter Lamprou making six big ones in the second half to keep the Red Wolves in it.
Point Park has now stacked conference wins over Brescia (Ky.) and Oakland City (Ind.) last week with the IU East road win this weekend. Next up is a matchup at home Saturday, Oct. 7 versus St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) for another RSC game.
