PITTSBURGH—The Point Park women's basketball team fell to Glenville State 97-77 in the MEC Opener for the two teams on Thursday night in the CCAC-Allegheny Gym.
From the floor, Point Park shot 42% (29-68) compared to Glenville's 38% (33-86) but it wasn't enough as Glenville made up for the shooting percent by knocking down 15 three-pointers. Dream Cherry connected on six from beyond the arc coupled with Ashlyn Riley's four three-pointers.
Point Park's
Camille Fultz put up a massive double-double picking up 26 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes played. Fultz shot 12 for 17 from the floor to lead the Pioneers in the effort.
Emma Pavelek nearly finished the game with a double-double as the senior had 15 points and nine rebounds.
Alexis Giles and
Aichata Ballo rounded out the leading scores as Giles had 14 with 12 of her points coming from beyond the arc while Ballo had a double-double pulling down a team leading 14 rebounds and chipping in with 10 points.
For the Glenville Pioneers, Tynasia Bunting and Dream Cherry each contributed with 19 points apiece to pace Glenville.
Point Park falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in MEC play while Glenville improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in MEC play. Point Park will travel to California (Pa.) to take on the Vulcans in a Saturday afternoon non-conference matchup with tip-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
