Point Park Falls on the Road to California (Pa.)

CALIFORNIA (PA.) – A pair of made free throws by California's Alivia Huffman sealed the Vulcans 65-61 win over Point Park in a Saturday evening non-conference matchup at the Convocation Center in California (Pa.)

Point Park led for 74 percent of the game going 18-54 from the floor shooting 33 percent while the Vulcans went 19-68 for 28 percent shooting on the night. Foul trouble caused issues for the Pioneers as Point Park was rung up for 29 personal fouls on the night.

A 6-0 run by California in the final five minutes of the matchup would prove to be the difference maker in the game as Allycia Harris hit a jumper to put California up by one as the score was 60-59.

Point Park's Aichata Ballo answered back with a layup to give the Pioneers their final lead of the game as the Vulcans went on a 5-0 run to close out the game as the Pioneers made some costly errors in the final minute of the game to come up short against the Vulcans.

Alexis Giles led the Pioneer offense scoring 16 points going 4 for 6 from the floor and 3 for 4 behind the arc. Giles also went 5-6 from the free throw line. Aichata Ballo nearly contributed a double-double picking up 11 points and nine rebounds. Emma Pavelek chipped in with 12 points.

For the Vulcans Alicia Young led all scorers with 22 points on the night along with nine rebounds. Alivia Huffman contributed with nine points going 5 for 6 from the free throw line.
