WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty held a nine-point fourth-quarter scoring advantage and went on to defeat Point Park 75-66 on Saturday afternoon at the ASRC on the hilltop.
After trailing by eight out the break, Point Park outscored West Liberty by a 20-12 margin in the third quarter to send the game to the fourth with a deadlocked 50-50 tie. However, West Liberty regrouped and closed out the win by outscoring Point Park 25-16 in the fourth.
Camille Fultz led the Pioneers with 14 points and a season-high 19 rebounds. Fultz went 6-of-17 from the floor.
Alexis Giles and
Emma Pavelek also reached double-figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Aichata Ballo also finished the afternoon with nine points and five rebounds.
Point Park shot just under 38 percent from the floor (28-74) in the game, but made just 4-of-13 three-point field goal attempts. The Pioneers held a 49-43 rebounding advantage.
Jenna Riccardo led West Liberty (2-4, 1-0 MEC) with 21 points and 14 rebounds in victory. Karli Anker chipped in 18 points and six rebounds, while Bailee Smith finished with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.
West Liberty shot 38.2 percent from the floor (26-68) with seven 3-pointers. The 'Toppers recorded 20 assists in the win.
Point Park (1-5, 0-2 MEC) will return to the court on Tuesday evening to host Wheeling University at CCAC. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
