MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Robert Morris pulled away in the second half to pick up a 68-44 win over Point Park in an exhibition game at UPMC Events Center on Wednesday evening.
The Colonials led by just five at the break (29-24), before outscoring the Pioneers 39-20 in the second half.
Point Park got a game-high 14 points from
Aichata Ballo in the contest.
Alexis Giles,
Ari Bleda and
Emma Pavelek chipped in six points apiece for the Pioneers.
Camille Fultz pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
The Pioneers shot just 28.3 percent from the field (17-60). PPU scored 22 points in the paint and 11 points off turnovers.
The Colonials had two double-figure scorers, led by Raissa Nsabua with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals. Danielle Vuletich chipped in 10 points.
Robert Morris finished the evening shooting 42.6 percent from the floor (29-68), but went just 1-of-17 from behind the arc. RMU scored 54 points in the paint, had 16 points off turnovers, and 15 second-chance points.
Point Park will open the 2024-25 regular season on Friday evening at the Atlantic Region Challenge hosted by Millersville University. The Pioneers will meet the host Marauders on Friday evening at 6 p.m. to open the weekend.
