CLARION, Pa. – Alexis Giles scored 21 points to lead Point Park in Thursday's non-conference setback against Clarion University (79-63) on the road.
Giles shot 7-of-13 from the floor and also added six rebounds and a steal in the game.
Emma Pavelek and
Aichata Ballo also reached double-figures for Point Park with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Ari Bleda finished the evening with seven points, five rebounds and four assists, while
Chloe Williams scored six points and added a team-high six rebounds.
Point Park finished the evening shooting 37 percent from the floor, including just 6-of-16 from behind the arc. The Pioneers also struggled from the foul line, making only 11 of 23 attempts.
Clarion, who improved to 10-2 with the win, shot just under 48 percent from the floor (32-of-67). The Golden Eagles also held a 47-36 rebounding advantage and recorded 17 steals on the defensive end.
Zoe Guice led Clarion with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Autumn Taylor added 15 points.
Point Park (2-9) will now prepare for a DI exhibition game at Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon. Tip is set for 12 noon at the Beeghly Center.
