YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Point Park women's basketball team fell 85-42 to Division I Youngstown State in an exhibition game to close out the year.
All nine players for Point Park scored on the day with
Emma Pavelek picking up 11 and
Aichata Ballo with 10 points. As a team the Pioneers shot 28.3 percent from the floor on 15-53 shooting from the floor.
On the boards the Pioneers were out-rebounded 48-31 by the Penguins. Ballo and
Camille Fultz each had six boards to lead the Pioneers.
For Youngstown State, the Penguins shot 48.7 percent knocking down 34 of 71 shots. From deep Youngstown shot 31.8 percent, hitting seven of their 22 attempts. Youngstown scored 46 of their points in the paint and 25 off turnovers. Sophia Gregory led the Penguins with a double-double as Gregory had 28 points and 13 rebounds in 33 minutes of play.
Following the holiday break, the Pioneers will start the new year with a MEC matchup against Charleston in West Virginia on Wednesday January 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from the H. Bernard Wehrle Sr. Athletic Arena in Charleston, West Virginia.
