West Liberty Tops Point Park on Thursday Night

PITTSBURGH - West Liberty defeated the Point Park women's basketball team, 68-56, at CCAC-Allegheny on Thursday night in Mountain East Conference play. West Liberty ended its five-game losing streak with the victory. 
 
A 10-0 scoring run by West Liberty from the 2:09 mark until the end of the third quarter sealed the game for the Hilltoppers, as Point Park never regained the lead after that point.
 
Point Park had three players score in double figures, led by Camille Fultz with 15 points, followed by Alexis Giles with 13 and Emma Pavelek with 10. Fultz also contributed eight rebounds and three blocks, marking a season-high in blocks. Pavelek shot 3-8 from the field and 4-4 at the free-throw line.

Chloe Williams led the team with a season-high nine rebounds, while also setting season-highs in minutes played (28) and assists (2).
 
Point Park excelled at the free-throw line, shooting an impressive 80 percent (12-for-15) for the game. Their strongest performance came in the second quarter, where they outscored West Liberty 18-14. During that period, Point Park shot 50 percent from the field (6-for-12) and 83 percent from the free-throw line (5-for-6).
 
West Liberty saw contributions from up and down their line with ots bench scoring 21 points in the victory. 
 
West Liberty showcased a balanced offensive effort, with five players scoring eight or more points. Anna Lucarelli, in her return to Pittsburgh, recorded a double-double with a team-high 14 points and a season-high 12 rebounds. Jenna Riccardo notched her fifth double-double of the season, contributing 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Bailee Smith added 11 points. 
 
Point Park's record now stands at 4-12 overall and 3-8 in conference play. The Pioneers will return to action on Saturday, January 25th, at 2 p.m., in a non-conference matchup against Salem on. the road.
