WHEELING, W.Va. – The Point Park women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to MEC North Division opponent Wheeling on Friday night at the Alma Grace McDonough Center - Performance Gym.
Wheeling took all three sets from Point Park in the matchup with scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-20 to get the sweep over the Pioneers.
Point Park hit .094 in the matchup while Wheeling posted a .123 hitting percentage. The Pioneers held a 37-33 advantage in kills with both
Alex Koontz (12) and
Nicole Reasbeck (10) recording double-digit kills on the night to lead Point Park.
Point Park also had a 34-30 advantage in assists, led by
Marianna Oyola-Rivera who recorded 26 on the night along with two blocks and an ace.
Along with her 10 kills, Reasbeck posted an impressive night against her former team, putting up two blocks, four assists, and 17 digs in the effort for Point Park.
Patricia Calero-Irrizary eclipsed 30 blocks on the season recording four in the effort to lead the Pioneers. Along with her four blocks, Calero-Irrizary recorded three kills and one dig for the Pioneers.
With the loss, Point Park falls to 3-10 overall and 2-1 in MEC league play. Point Park will return to Pittsburgh to host West Liberty on Tuesday night for the Pioneers second home contest of the year. The matchup is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Student Center Gym.
