PITTSBURGH – The Point Park women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to Glenville State on Monday night at Highmark Stadium.
Glenville State struck first as the Pioneers found the back of the net in the 11
th minute as Solares Solano scored her first of the night off her own rebounded shot to put Glenville State up 1-0.
The Glenville State Pioneers took a 1-0 lead going into halftime before scoring a late second half goal in the 83
rd minute. Solano scored her second of the match on a breakaway that beat the keeper to find the bottom left of the net to put the Pioneers up by two to close out the game.
Point Park outshot Glenville State 18-13, Point Park had six shots on goal compared to Glenville's five. Glenville State held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks and a 6-3 advantage in saves.
In goal,
Frederieke Rijlaarsdam played all 90 minutes making three saves while allowing two goals. Rijlaarsdam now holds a 5-3 record on the season.
Point Park will have a quick turnaround as the Pioneers return to Highmark Stadium on Wednesday night for a conference matchup against West Virginia State at 5:00 p.m. The Pioneers will come into the matchup with a 5-3-1 overall record and a 4-2 record in league play.
