BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Point Park scored 53 points in the second half and pulled away for a 90-66 road win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night in Buckhannon. Point Park shot just under 48 percent (33-69) from the floor with 15 3-pointers in the win.
With the win, head coach
Ryan Grandits earned his first win at Point Park, as the Pioneers are now 1-5 on the campaign.
The Pioneers finished the evening with four double-figure scorers, led by
Greg Williams with 19 points and six rebounds. Point Park also got 15 points apiece from
Grant Welch and
Jaylen Stewart, while
Rob Keys added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Kaden Warner chipped in nine points, seven rebounds and three assists in the win, while
Amir Turner came off the bench to add eight points and three steals.
For the first time this season, Point Park held a rebounding advantage (41-36) in Wednesday's win.
Isaiah Baker finished with a team-high 19 points to lead West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night. Stephen Ovia chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bobcats shot just 38 percent from the floor (26-68), including a 4-of-22 performance from behind the arc.
After six road games to open the season, Point Park comes home to host Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon at CCAC. Tip is set for 4 p.m. The Pioneers will play three home games in five days beginning on Saturday.
