PITTSBURGH – Concord used a 28-12 scoring run over the final 13 minutes of play to pull away for a 78-61 win over Point Park on Wednesday night at CCAC.
Concord was led by 27 points and 10 rebounds from Kraig Gilbert, as the Mountain Lions shot 50 percent from the floor and 9-of-20 from behind the arc in the win. Point Park, on the other hand, shot just 42 percent from the floor.
The teams were deadlocked at 42-42 at the break, as Point Park shot 53 percent from the floor (16-30) and 57 percent from three (8-14) in the opening half. That shooting clip dropped to 29.6 percent (8-27) in the final 20 minutes of play.
Jaylen Stewart and
Greg Williams scored 15 points apiece for the Pioneers. Williams pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Grant Welch also chipped in 12 points in the game, while
Kaden Warner added seven.
Warner surpassed 1,000 career points in his collegiate career during the game. He entered the evening at 999 points if you combine his career stops at Rio Grande and Point Park.
In addition to Gilbert's big day, Concord also got 11 points from Anfernee Hanna and nine points from Eldon Terry off the bench.
Point Park will now be idle until Saturday, January 3 at Glenville State. Tip is set for 4 p.m. at the Waco Center.
