WHEELING, W.Va. – The hot-shooting Wheeling men's basketball team picked up a 97-75 victory over Point Park during the Mountain East Conference opener for both teams on Wednesday evening at the Alma Grace McDonough Center in Wheeling.
The Cardinals shot 56.5 percent from the floor (35-62) and 50 percent from three (15-30) in the victory. They also held a 38-28 rebounding edge in the win.
The Pioneers had three double-figure scorers in the game, including 17 points apiece from
Aidan Anderson and
Greg Williams. Williams also pulled down eight rebounds in the game.
Grant Welch also chipped in 15 points and five rebounds, while
Kaden Warner scored nine points to go with three rebounds and four assists.
Point Park shot 41 percent from the floor (26-63) with nine 3-pointers in the contest.
Wheeling had five double-figure scorers on the evening, led by Ayden Goll with 19 points, four rebounds and five assists, and Tee Harris with 19 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Caleb Murray also chipped in 13 points.
Point Park will return to MEC action on Saturday at West Liberty. Tip is set for 4 p.m. at the ASRC.
