INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State outscored Point Park 45-31 in the second half and went on to pick up an 86-71 victory over the Pioneers on Wednesday evening at the Walker Convocation Center.
West Virginia State shot 50 percent from the floor in the victory, including a 6-of-21 performance from behind the arc. Point Park shot just under 52 percent from the floor in the first half but was a dismal 9-of-35 from the field (.257) in the final 20 minutes. Point Park held a 39-35 advantage on the glass.
The Pioneers had four double-figure scorers in the game, led by
Aidan Anderson with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Nick Marshall finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Nathanial Van (13) and
Nazareth Fisher (12) also reached double-figures in the game.
Aiden Miller just missed a double-double with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Arthur Cox scored a team-high 15 points to lead West Virginia State. Nate Mims and Kenyon Giles scored 14 points apiece, while Jaden Byers added 13 off the bench.
Point Park (10-13, 4-12 MEC) will continue conference play at home against the University of Charleston this Saturday. Tip is set for 4 p.m. at CCAC.
