PITTSBURGH – Point Park fell at home to the University of Charleston in a Mountain East Conference matchup with the Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon at CCAC. The Pioneers were unable to come back as they were handed a 59-47 loss following a tough night on the offensive end.
Point Park shot 33.9 percent from the floor (19-for-56).
Aidan Anderson led the offense for the Pioneers, scoring 13 points and pulling down seven rebounds.
Aiden Miller (12) and
Nathanial Van (10) were the only other Pioneers in double-figures. Miller recorded a double-double pulling down 12 boards to go along with his 12 points.
Point Park was narrowly beat out on the glass as Charleston had the 36-35 advantage on the boards. Zach Loveday led the Golden Eagles pulling down seven rebounds and blocking eight shots in the matchup.
Dwaine Jones led all scorers with 22 points, shooting 8-for-17 from the floor for UC. Jones had five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. As a team, Charleston shot 38 percent (19-50) from the floor and 43.8 percent from behind the arc (7-16).
With the setback, Point Park is 10-14 overall and 4-13 in Mountain East Conference play. Point Park will head back on the road for another MEC matchup with the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Point Park's last matchup against Fairmont State went in favor of the Falcons, 84-79, in Pittsburgh back on Jan. 15.
