Van Scores 20 on Saturday Against Frostburg State

PITTSBURGH – Frostburg State edged Point Park, 80-73, on Saturday afternoon at CCAC to earn the season sweep over the Pioneers in Mountain East Conference play this season.
 
Despite shooting 51.8 percent from the floor (29-56) and outrebounding the Bobcats by a 40-28 margin, Point Park came up short again, suffering its eighth-straight loss to fall to 4-15 in conference play. The Pioneers are 10-16 overall.
 
Point Park scored 23 second-chance points after grabbing 16 offensive rebounds in the game.
 
Nathanial Van led the Pioneers on Saturday afternoon with 20 points, three rebounds and six assists. Nazareth Fisher came off the bench to record a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Also in the post, Aiden Miller finished just shy of a double-double with 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Nick Marshall rounded out Point Park's double-figure scorers with 12 points and eight rebounds.
 
Point Park was plagued by 16 turnovers and connected on just 9-of-21 attempts from the charity stripe in the loss.
 
Frostburg State got a game-high 28 points and seven rebounds from Koby Baptiste. Chase Whippen chipped in 18 points and five rebounds. Trey Simmons also came off the Frostburg State bench on Saturday and scored 16.
 
The Bobcats finished the afternoon shooting 50 percent from the floor (29-58) and 9-of-22 from three (40.9%).
 
Point Park will wrap up MEC play on Wednesday evening with a matchup with the Wheeling Cardinals on the road. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Alma Grace McDonough Center.
