BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Point Park's
Dunya Van den Tooren has been named the Mountain East Conference Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Van den Tooren, a sophomore from the Netherlands, finished first in the Triple Jump at Friday's Scorcher/Columbia Challenge hosted by the Armory in Bronx, New York. Her mark of 11.73m ranks first in the MEC and just missed an NCAA provisional at 11.74m.
Van den Tooren currently ranks first in the MEC in the triple jump and high jump (1.70m), while ranking second in the league in the long jump (5.75m). She accomplished a NCAA provisional mark in the high jump back on Dec. 5.
Concord's Dom Collins was honored as the MEC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week. The MEC weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
