Pioneers Set for Rematch at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. -- Point Park men's soccer returns to action Sunday when the Pioneers travel to Frostburg State for a Mountain East Conference matchup against the Bobcats. The opening kick is scheduled for 1 p.m. during Frostburg's Homecoming Weekend.

LAST TIME OUT

Point Park fell 4-1 to No. 3 Charleston on Oct. 11 after taking an early lead. Hector Moreno scored just 2 minutes into the match for his sixth goal of the season, but Charleston answered with 4 consecutive goals to secure the win.

Charleston finished with an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal, while Moreno recorded both of Point Park's attempts on target. Anthony Fusay made 4 saves for the Pioneers.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS

Frostburg State enters Sunday's matchup with a 6-2-5 overall record and a 4-2-3 mark in conference play. The Bobcats are coming off a 1-1 draw at West Liberty on Oct. 14.

After conceding in the fifth minute, Frostburg responded when Christ Fopossi scored directly from a free kick in the 29th minute. Neither team found a winner in the second half, with both sides finishing with 3 shots on goal.

Frank Stare leads the Bobcats with 7 goals and 4 assists for 18 points. Inzaghi Harmon has contributed 3 goals and 4 assists, while Nate Kennedy has scored 4 goals.

Goalkeeper Josiah Emerson has recorded 37 saves with an .804 save percentage and a 0.95 goals-against average in 10 appearances.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Point Park claimed a 2-1 victory over Frostburg State on Sept. 20. Moreno and Alejandro Vega scored for the Pioneers, handing the Bobcats a conference loss on the road.

Moreno leads Point Park with 6 goals and 12 points, while Joel Gomez has added 4 goals and an assist for 9 points. The Pioneers will look to replicate their earlier performance as they face Frostburg for the second time this season.

ROAD TEST

Point Park enters Sunday's contest at 5-5-3 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play. The Pioneers have scored 16 goals through 13 games, while Frostburg has recorded 24 goals and allowed 13.

The Pioneers will look to generate more scoring opportunities and limit the Bobcats' attack as they aim to return to the win column and earn another important conference result.
