PITTSBURGH -- Point Park men's soccer picked up a 2-1 win over West Liberty on Wednesday night on Senior Night at F.N.B. Stadium. Alejandro Vega broke the ice in the sixth minute and an own goal from West Liberty in the 10th gave the Pioneers their lead.
Â
Vega's tally came from a corner kick off the foot of Lander Barrio Gonzalez. Gonzalez's cross was headed for a blocked shot by Rocco Domenighini and then landed in front of Vega who buried it for the opening tally. Domenighini and Gonzalez both picked up assists on the play.
Â
Just four minutes later, Gonzalez sent in another corner which Luca Alessandro Ferraro redirected off the crossbar into the leg of West Liberty's Noah Ward for an own goal. Point Park would not surrender the lead, despite a tally from WLU's Jasper Newton in the 31st minute.
Â
The Hilltoppers edged the Pioneers 19-8 in shots, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. Anthony Fusay recorded a season-high seven saves in the match. Ferraro's two shots led the team, and Hector Moreno, Edouard Gagnon, Lennart Poth and Vega all chipped in shots on goal.Â
Â
Point Park honored 11 seniors on Wednesday night: Gregorio Capponi, Adrian Andersen, Guilherme Galvao, Lorenzo Grispello, Luca Alessandro Ferraro, Lander Barrio Gonzalez, Rocco Domenighini, Azavier Coppin, Hector Moreno, Nikolai Tjoestheim and Zachary Mills.

The Pioneers boast 16 points in the standings to the Hilltoppers' 14. West Liberty's final match of the season will be next Wednesday against Wheeling at home.Â
