PITTSBURGH – Point Park picked up its third-straight win on Tuesday evening, defeating Davis & Elkins, 3-1, in Mountain East Conference action at the Student Center.
Point Park took the first two sets by scores of 26-24 and 25-16, before the visitors took set three by a 26-24 final. The Pioneers closed out the win by a score of 25-17 in set four.
Point Park had four double-figure attackers in the match, led by
Nicole Reasbeck with 14 kills, eight digs and four assists.
Sara Faith,
Patricia Calero-Irizarry and
Marianna Oyola-Rivera added 10 kills apiece. Oyola-Rivera finished with a double-double after also recording a team-high 27 assists.
Brooke Bednarski also chipped in offensively with 14 assists.
Mia Arndt and
Lily Wright led the Pioneers in the back row with 16 and eight digs, respectively.
Point Park nearly doubled Davis & Elkins on the attack with a 62-37 advantage in kills. Point Park hit .255 in the match, compared to .133 for the visiting Senators.
Davis & Elkins held a slim 6-4 edge in total blocks.
The Senators got nine kills from Kaylee Vanjo and seven apiece from Sadie St. Mary and Mari Bernard. Taylor Demankowski had 13 digs to lead D&E.
Point Park returns to action on Friday evening at Concord University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Athens, West Virginia.
