PITTSBURGH -- Point Park men's soccer split the points with West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night, battling to a 1-1 draw at F.N.B. Stadium. Joel Gomez provided the lone goal for the Pioneers in the 47th minute.

The Pioneers (5-4-3, 4-3-1 MEC) fell behind in the 34th minute, when the Bobcats (0-8-3, 0-6-2 MEC) sent a ball into the box and posted a nice passing play between Tarun Gill and Sante Klosterman to set up Nicolas Nauta for the opening goal.Â

Point Park would draw level in the 34th minute when Gomez juked his defender and cut onto his right foot to bury his chance into the bottom far corner. Gomez's goal was his fourth of the season, placing him squarely in second on the team.

PPU outshot WV Wesleyan 22-10, including an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal. Lorenzo Grispello tied for the game high in shots with four, all of which went on goal. Hector Moreno also levied four shots, two of which were on target. Gianfranco Arguello, Adam Zellmer, Lennart Poth, Lander Barrio Gonzalez, Luca Alessandro Ferraro, Rocco Domenighini, Louis Guffroy, Hugo Ferreira and Gabriel Okita all recorded shots.Â

Anthony Fusay stopped three of the four shots that came his way, while Lucas Fry of WVWC recorded 10 saves.

Point Park returns to action on Sunday when it opens a two-game road trip in Charleston. Opening kick is scheduled for 4 p.m.
