PITTSBURGH -- Point Park women's basketball dropped its game Wednesday to West Virginia State 68-63. The Pioneers are now 6-15 (3-13 MEC) on the campaign.
Point Park trailed by 7 points with six minutes left to play in the contest. The Pioneers went on an 8-4 run over the next three minutes to cut bring the score to 58-57 West Virginia State. Junior forward Elizabeth Boyd scored 7 of her 21 total points on the run.
Boyd recorded her fourth double-double in as many games, posting team highs in points (21), rebounds (10), steals (two) and blocks (three). Boyd was one of four players for Point Park to enter double-digit scoring, with Alexis Giles (14), Camille Fultz (13), and Lucia Hervia (12) all accomplishing the feat.
Giles added a season-high seven rebounds, six of which came in the first quarter.
West Virginia State (9-13, 6-10 MEC) was lifted by Imani Hickman's double-double, in which she tallied a game-leading 27 points and 13 rebounds.
Point Park shot at a 36.9% rate from the field and 35.3% from 3-point range, both of which bested WVSU's respective rates (32.9%, 18.2%).
