BARTOW, Fla. -- Point Park softball split its two games on Wednesday, beating American International College 4-2 and dropping its game against Wayne State College (Neb.) 12-2. Gianna Welsh's two-RBI game against AIC fueled Point Park (2-7) to its win.

Game 1 (4-2 Point Park - W: Johnson 2-3, L: Krijgsman 3-4)
The Pioneers totaled nine hits in their first game. Emma Henry led the game with three hits, and Welsh and Cam Mann each had two. Welsh, Henry and Mann combined for the Pioneers' four RBIs, two of which came from Welsh.

Point Park hopped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Corrine Wright doubled and Cam Mann's groundout moved Wright to second base. Welsh stepped up and delivered a two-out single to left. A walk from Jana Hess put runners at first and second for Emma Henry who hit a RBI single to center field.

American International cut the deficit to one run in the third, making it 2-1. In the fifth, Mia Arndt reached on a fielder's choice and stole second before being driven in by a single off the bat of Cam Mann, who advanced to second on an error by the right fielder.Â

Welsh had her second hit of the day in the form of an RBI double to center, giving the Pioneers a 4-1 lead.Â

Julia Johnson pitched her third complete game of the season on Wednesday. Johnson struck out one batter and allowed a season-low two walks. Her two runs allowed (both earned) are second-best for her in a single game.Â

Game 2 (12-2 Wayne State - W: Taylor, 6-1 , L: Henry, 0-3)
Wayne State (Neb.) scored 12 runs on 14 hits in Point Park's second game of the day. The Wildcats scored 11 runs before the Pioneers got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Nina Elbert and Bella Moudy both pinch-hit in the fourth inning, both earning one-out walks. Then Shania Cope, who was pinch hitting for Jana Hess, ripped a double to left field, driving in both runners and posting Point Park's only RBIs of the second game.Â

The game would end via run rule after the fifth inning, with WSC leading by 10. The Wildcats' Emilee Marth led the game with four RBIs and Maddie Scobee was right behind her with three.Â

Point Park closes out The Spring Games on Thursday when it takes on Clarion and Edinboro. First pitch against Clarion is slated for 3 p.m., and the matchup with Edinboro is scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m.
