Heller Breaks School Record in First Outdoor Meet of 2026

ELON, N.C. – The Point Park men's and women's track and field teams moved outdoors on Saturday, competing at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University in North Carolina.
 
Point Park's day was highlighted by Alexis Heller's school record mark of 11.79m in the shot put. Her mark was good enough for sixth in the event. Heller also finished seventh in the javelin with the fifth-best mark in school history at 34.25m.
 
Khady Ndiaye finished runner-up in the triple jump, recording the second-best mark in PPU history at 11.37m. Ndiaye also finished sixth in the high jump at 1.55m – a mark that ranks fifth in school history.
 
Mya Greschner also had an impressive day for PPU, finishing second in the 400 meter with a time of 1:00.01. She also took third in the long jump at 5.32m.
 
Aubrey Smith took third in the 800 meter with a time of 2:19.27 (ranks 5th in school history).
 
On the men's side, Kamar Sutherland and Carel Froneman took first-place finishes in the 110m hurdles (15.14) and 400m hurdles (56.87), respectively.
 
The men's 4x400 relay team of Maxwell Eaton, Christian Reid, Juan Barrera and Froneman also finished first with a time of 3:27.12.
 
In individual events, Eaton took fourth in the 400 meter with a time of 49.53 (third in school history). Reid finished second in the 200 meter (22.20) and fifth in the 400 meter (49.80).
 
Elijah Bechdel also had an impressive day, finishing fifth in the 800 meter (2:03.75) and second in the 1500 meter (4:04.82). His 1500-meter time ranks fifth in PPU history.
 
In the shot put, Jonah Schneider turned in a mark of 12.94m, good enough for a second-place finish at Friday's event. Ben Williams finished third in the javelin with a mark of 50.62m.
 
Point Park returns to action next Thursday through Saturday at the 49er Classic hosted by UNC-Charlotte.
