BENSALEM, Pa. – Four Point Park men's wrestlers earned placement at the NCWA Mideast Tournament on Saturday, including first-place finishes from
Aiden Burford and
Liam Hein.
Burford went unbeaten in the 141 bracket, winning each of his three matches by fall on his way to the top of the podium. He defeated Slippery Rock's Dominic Frollo in the semifinals and Slippery Rock's Anthony Esposito in the finals.
Hein went 4-0 in the 149 bracket, winning two bouts by fall, one by tech-fall, and one by decision. He defeated Mercyhurst's Colin Scherer in the bracket final.
Charles Perkins took second place in the 174 bracket, going 2-1 on the day. He won by decision (11-4) against Pitt's Andrew Lindros in the quarterfinals, before earning a fall against Brady Fitz of Mercyhurst in the semifinals. He dropped the championship bout by a 10-4 decision against Williamson College's Alexander Gamber Williams.
Jacob Kehrer rounded out the Point Park placers with a fifth-place finish at 157. He went 6-2 on the day battling out of the consolations. He won five bouts by fall and one by tech-fall.
Jacob Kandis also went 1-2 in the 165 bracket, while
Preston Chandler fell twice in the 133 bracket.
As a team, Point Park placed seventh with 90 points.
