WHEELING, W.Va. -- Point Park men's basketball will begin the MEC Tournament, presented by The Health Plan, on Wednesday night, with a first-round matchup against Davis & Elkins. Opening tip is scheduled for 8:30 from WesBanco Arena.
The Pioneers (8-18, 5-15 MEC) are fresh off a win in their regular-season finale at Salem, a game they won 77-62. Aidan Anderson, who was named to the All-MEC First Team on Tuesday, recorded his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 28 points with 11 rebounds. Anderson also led the team with three steals.
Anderson was one of three Pioneers to record double figures. He was joined by Grant Welch and Greg Williams who tallied 13 and 10 respectively. Welch tied with Jaylen Stewart for the second-most rebounds on the team with five.
Davis & Elkins (9-19, 6-13 MEC) also enters fresh off a win on Saturday, in which it took down West Virginia Wesleyan 105-90. The Pioneers and Senators split their two matchups this season, with D&E picking up the win on Dec. 13 in Pittsburgh 84-57 and Point Park returning the favor with a 91-77 win on Feb. 2. The two teams split their season series in 2024-25 as well.

Aidan Anderson was named to the 2026 All-MEC First Team on Tuesday. Anderson leads the Pioneers in scoring at 18.9 points per game, which is good for second in the MEC. He also tops the team in rebounding, averaging 5.9 per game. Anderson was named the MEC Player of the Week on Feb. 2.

Jaylen Stewart paces Point Park with 93 assists, a season high. His 3.6 assists per game rank fifth in the MEC. Stewart is also fifth in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.1.

Kaden Warner is averaging 14.7 points per game entering Wednesday's contest, good for second on the team in points. Warner is shooting at a team-leading 96.8% rate from the free-throw line this year.

The Pioneers are third in the MEC in 3-point percentage (37.5%). PPU is averaging 10.8 3-pointers per game, which is fourth-best in the MEC.

Point Park ranks second in the MEC in free-throw percentage, shooting 76.5% from the line. Four Pioneers are shooting over 80 percent from the free throw line this season, including Warner (.968), Jayden Davis (.955), Anderson (.880) and Welch (.821).
