WHEELING, W.Va. -- Point Park women's basketball fell to Frostburg State, 78-68, on Wednesday in the first round of the 2026 Mountain East Conference Women's Basketball Tournament at Wheeling's WesBanco Arena.
The Pioneers were led by senior Alexis Giles' 22 points, a game-high. Giles shot 60 percent (9-15) from the floor, including 50 percent from 3-point range (3-6). Giles set season-highs in points and field goals made (9) on Wednesday, and chipped in five rebounds. Giles moved into 14th place all-time at Point Park with 1,186 points.
Camille Fultz and Lucia Hervia both ended the game with 13 points and a team-leading six rebounds each. Elizabeth Boyd joined in double figures with 12 points and six rebounds.
Point Park ended the first quarter with a 22-18 lead, following a buzzer-beater by Giles. The Pioneers and Bobcats went back and forth in the quarter, which featured four ties. As time expired, Giles hit a 3-point heave from mid-court to lift the Pioneers lead to four points. Point Park shot 42.9 percent (3-7) from beyond the arch in the opening frame.
The Pioneers would build on their lead in the second, taking a 31-25 lead at the 4:06 mark, before Frostburg State scored 14 unanswered points to end the half. The Bobcats continued their run in the second half, opening with a 12-0 run to take a 51-31 advantage. A Kayla Walter's 3-pointer ended the scoreless drought for the Pioneers at the 5:20 mark in the third. The total Frostburg scoring run was 26-0.
Giles scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, shooting 5-of-6 from the field. Fultz added 7 points and four rebounds in the final quarter.
Point Park shot 32 percent from 3-point range (8-of-25) on Wednesday.
Jenna Muha posted a double-double for FSU, tying for the team lead with 16 points and pacing the Bobcats with 10 rebounds. Sophie Nichols (16 points) and Juilie Spinelli (15) also reached double figures for Frostburg State. The Bobcats made 50.8 percent of their field goals in the win (33-of-65).
