FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State completed the season sweep of Point Park, taking both games Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE: FROSTBURG STATE 10 – 6 POINT PARK
W: Donaldson (11-1) | L: Johnson (4-11)
The Pioneers wasted no time getting on the board, as Cam Mann launched a solo home run to center—her second of the season—to give Point Park an early spark.
That momentum quickly shifted, however, as Frostburg State responded with a five-run first inning. Gracie Nelson and Arden Miller opened with back-to-back singles, setting the table for Kylee Piconi, who doubled in two runs. Later in the inning, Brianna Russo added a two-run triple, and Zoey Marinello capped the rally with an RBI single to give the Bobcats a 5-1 lead after one.
Frostburg added to its lead in the second with a pair of two-out RBI hits from Piconi and Ally Myers, stretching the advantage to 7-1.
Point Park began to chip away in the fourth. Mann singled to lead off the inning, and Ava Hubble followed with an RBI double to right-center. Hubble later scored on a Shania Cope single, cutting the deficit to 7-3.
The Bobcats answered again in the bottom half of the inning, as Myers connected on a two-run home run to push the lead to 9-3. Frostburg added one more in the fifth on an RBI double from Miller, making it 10-3.
The Pioneers continued to battle. In the sixth, Hubble reached on an infield single and later scored on a fielder's choice by Kaylee Fabiano. Point Park made things interesting in the seventh, as Emma Henry drove in a run with a single and Cope followed with an RBI double to cut the deficit to 10-6. However, the rally ended there as the tying run was cut down on the bases.
Hubble led the way for Point Park, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Cope added three hits, while Mann recorded two.
Izabella Donaldson earned the win, allowing four runs on nine hits over six innings with six strikeouts. Julia Johnson took the loss, tossing a complete game while allowing 10 runs and striking out three.
GAME TWO: FROSTBURG STATE 4 – 2 POINT PARK
W: Magee (4-2) | L: Henry (1-10) | SV: Dietrich (2)
After two scoreless innings, Point Park struck first in game two. Mia Arndt broke the deadlock with a solo home run—her fourth of the season—giving the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
Frostburg answered in the third. Gracie Nelson reached on a walk, advanced on a wild pitch and passed ball, and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Miller to tie the game.
The Bobcats took control in the fifth. After putting two runners on, Miller delivered an RBI single to give Frostburg its first lead. Piconi followed with a two-run triple, extending the advantage to 4-1.
Point Park had one final push in the seventh. Henry led off with a triple and later scored on a groundout by Gianna Welsh to cut the deficit to 4-2. However, Frostburg closed the door from there to secure the sweep.
Arndt paced the Pioneers offensively, going 2-for-3 with a home run. Mann, Cope, and Henry each added a hit.
