MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Dunya Van den Tooren earned MEC-Champion honors in both the long and high jump, and Akeem Mustapha was named MEC Champion in the long jump as Point Park competed in the penultimate day of the MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Van den Tooren tallied 20 points in the meet with her two first-place finishes. She tied her second-best mark in the long jump at 5.70 meters and cleared a height of 1.65 meters in the high jump. Van den Tooren was the MEC Indoor Champion in the high jump at the MEC Indoor Championship in February. She took second place in the high jump at the 2025 MEC Outdoor Championships.

Mustapha successfully defended his MEC Outdoor Championship in the long jump, having won the event in 2025. He set a mark of 7.34 meters on Monday. Mustapha was MEC Champion in the long jump at the 2026 MEC Indoor Championships.Â

Mustapha took first place in the 100m preliminaries with his time of 10.69 seconds. He also qualified for the 110m hurdle finals thanks to his time of 14.70 seconds in a fourth-place finish. Mustapha reset his third-best time in Pioneer history with his time.Â

POINT SCORERS
Lotte Zethof was named All-MEC Second Team in the 3,000m steeplechase thanks to her time of 11:23.88. Zethof improved on her own program record and added 8 points with the second-place finish.

Emma Roemer was named to the All-MEC Second Team in the long jump with her mark of 5.67 meters. Roemer added 8 points with her second-place finish, and she came just 0.02 meters shy of her third-best distance in program history. Mya Greschner took fifth place in the event, jumping 5.46 meters. Greschner, who holds Point Park's program record at 5.96 meters, added 4 points with the finish.Â

Andrew Hartung added 5 points for Point Park with his fourth-place decathlon score. Hartung totaled 5,267 points and reset his second-best score in Pioneer history. He took first place in the 1,500m with his time of 5:00.93, and he placed second in the pole vault (3.85 meters) and 400m (52.78 seconds).

Trey Jones reset his third-best score in Point Park history with his 4.340 points. Jones finished in sixth place and added 3 points to the team's total. He finished second in the discus with his distance of 33.37 meters and the high jump meters with his 1.85-meter mark.

Alexis Heller and Katie Dolinski both scored in the shot put, placing seventh and eighth respectively. Heller's distance of 11.17 meters gave 2 points to the Pioneers, and Dolinski added a point with her mark of 11.16 meters.

QUALIFIERS
Kamar Sutherland set a new program record in the 110m hurdles with his time of 14.14 seconds. Sutherland finished first in the preliminaries and qualified for the finals with the result. Mustapha and Gavin Glass also qualified for the finals, with Glass taking fifth place and qualifying for the finals. Glass moved from fifth to fourth in program history with his time.Â

Roemer and Greschner both qualified for several event finals, in addition to their success in the long jump. Roemer placed fifth in the 100m hurdles with her 14.79-second time. Greschner qualified for the 400m and 100m finals, placing second (57.86 seconds) and fifth (12.25 seconds) respectively. She came just shy of her 56.06-second time in the 400m which ranks second in program history.

Alexis Ayitey finished seventh in the 100m preliminaries, resetting her fourth-best time in program history. Ayitey finished with a time of 15.30 seconds.Â

Tanais Rojas and Diamond Rush both qualified for the 400m finals. Rojas reset her fifth-overall time in PPU history with her 58.41-second finish - good for third place. Rush qualified thanks to her fourth-place preliminary finish. She recorded a time of 58.59 seconds.Â

Aubrey Smith, Anna Babinyecz and Jana Schmid both qualified for the 800m finals on Monday. Smith took first place with her 2:16.46 time - just shy of her third-best time in Pioneer history. Babinyecz set the fifth-best time in program history with her 2:16.58 finish. She placed second in the event. Schmid's time of 2:16.89 was good for fifth place on the day,Â

The MEC Championships close on Tuesday. Point Park's women's team is in second place going into the final day with 65 total points. PPU sits 9 points back of Charleston. Charleston and Point Park were the top two teams at the 2026 MEC Indoor Championships.

The men's team sits in fourth place with 29 points - 3 points shy of third-place WV Wesleyan and 6 short of second-place Glenville State.Â
