PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Point Park dropped a 3-0 non-conference match against Lake Erie College on Saturday afternoon at the Storm Volleyball Classic in Painesville.
Lake Erie took the first two sets by scores of 25-17, before narrowly edging the Pioneers in set three by a score of 27-25.
Lake Erie recorded a .389 hitting percentage with 49 kills compared to 14 errors (90 total attacks) in the match. Point Park hit .229 with 34 kills and 15 errors on 83 attacks.
Point Park held a 5-3 advantage in total blocks.
Nicole Reasbeck finished the match with 10 kills, four digs and three aces. Newcomer
Viktoria Zelubowski added eight kills to go with four block assists.
Patricia Calero-Irizarry led the Pioneers near the net with five kills and four block assists.
Brooke Bednarski guided the PPU attack with 18 assists.
Defensively,
Mia Arndt had four digs from her libero position.
Allison Kirch finished with a match-high 15 kills, seven digs and three aces to lead Lake Erie. Sadie Nawrocki added 10 kills.
Point Park returns to action next Friday at the Wheeling Quad. The Pioneers will face Ursuline on Friday at noon, before returning to take on Indianapolis on Saturday at 2 p.m.
